Country: Australia

ABV: 5.8%

Beer description: Bridge Road typically does some very good stuff, and they don’t disappoint with this beer.  It’s pretty dark considering IPA stands for India Pale Ale, but that can be the case sometimes, especially if it’s on the maltier side.

Sweet, citrusy, and just a little bit of spice in the smell make for a great aroma.  Hints of caramel are also there and it seems like the aroma is more malt driven than hop driven with a little bit of wood and earth thrown in for good measure.

Taste though is a bit more hop driven with the bitterness really kicking in.  A little bit of citrus and pine comes through the pallet as well.  While it certainly isn’t the most bitter IPA out there, it is on the bitter side and a more modern/American style IPA than what would be seen as traditional.

In this way, this beer would be good for someone trying to get into beers on the more bitter side of things as it’s a good introduction because the bitterness dissipates, compared to other IPA’s where the bitterness often lingers for a long while.
