What are we drinking this month?

Each month we’ll highlight what we’re liking with a quick rundown about why. There’s nothing really special here, it’s just what we happen to be drinking. It might be old, it might be new, it might be hard to get, it might be easy.

Take a look at previous beers of the month.

Exit Brewing IPA

Beer of the Month – April 2016

Exit Brewing is quickly becoming a Melbourne icon. For one, they make some really great beer. For two, Frase and Grum quickly established themselves as some of the nicest guys on the scene. They’re passionate about their beer, and they’re always willing to have a chat.

Since they started in 2014, however, they were doing a series of one of batches. That was half the fun of Exit… everything was so temporary. It added excitement to each batch. Would you ever see it again? Who knows… better get it quick.

Until finally, in late 2015, the boys from Exit Brewing finally came out with their first regular release; an IPA.

It seemed strange at first that they would launch with an IPA. After all, these were the guys who launched their brand with a saison, then rolled into Williamstown Beer and Cider Festival (on a 30 degree day) and sold out of a milk stout. These were guys who didn’t do things the normal way.

Then they launch their core range with an IPA? We all love IPA’s… we were just expecting Exit to do it differently; launch with a sour or something with a more limited market. Just because they can, and they’d pull it off.

But by going with an IPA, they threw their fans a curve ball by doing what would be expected by anybody else. And they pulled it off…

While it’s a fairly standard American style IPA, full of all the citrus and pine you’ll ever want, Exit have managed to make this 7% abv beer go down real easy (maybe too easy) so you can knock back a few of them.

Sure, this beer came out almost six months ago, but it’s a good place to start with our new beer of the month series. Why? Because it’s a great beer.

And for those not in the know, IPA stands for India Pale Ale. Find out why it’s called IPA.
