Beer description: This is a great beer, just well balanced and drinkable, interesting enough to sit on but still fairly sessionable.

The beer has some great aromas.  The main thing that comes through is a little bit of spice, malt, and some burnt chocolate.  As the beer warms up a little bit, florals and some vanilla comes out as well.  There’s quite a bit going on and it all compliments very well.

The malt tones continue with the taste with a bit of bitterness at first.  Tiny bits of chocolate are throughout as well. There’s a bit of caramel as well which dances nicely too.  Once again, as the beer warms up, the vanilla really starts to come through.  There’s a sweetness, but it’s not very dominant, it’s just there to take the edge off.

Unsurprisingly, there’s a bit of citrus hidden behind everything.  Citrus, of course, is a fairly common flavour coming from hops.

The bitterness is the best thing here, it’s well balanced and exactly right. It’s on the bitter side of things but you don’t know until you’re half way through.  The tiny bit of sweetness mentioned earlier compliments this bitterness.  As mentioned, the sweetness takes the edge off very well and the hints of vanilla give it a smoothness, especially considering the bitterness has a dry earthy quality to it.

This is a great beer with a lot to offer.  It’s obviously had a lot of care and thought and put into it and it’s highly recommended.
